Thank you Mr. Piccolo! (A world without Cell..)

What? Why am I thanking Piccolo you ask? Well to put it quite bluntly, all Cell lovers probably have this Namekian to thank. Why, you ask? Let me explain. Remember that time back when the DBZ series was just beginning? Before killing Raditz, Piccolo went into a rather detailed full scale decription of the dragonballs. Raditz laughed and revealed that his scouter also doubled as a transmitter...meaning that the remaining two saiya-jin had just heard every word. I suppose in a way we have Raditz to thank as well for revealing that the Saiyans had heard everything and thus giving the Z-senshi a chance to prepare.

Okay. Let me break it down. Suppose Piccolo hadn't opened his big mouth about the dragonballs. Raditz would have never known anything, and Vegeta and Nappa certainly wouldn't have wasted their time going to avenge his death. (C'mon..they didn't even try to wish him BACK for petes sake) Without Vegeta on earth, Dr. Gero wouldn't have had a chance to collect his DNA for his creation...and Trunks would have never been born.

Now, if the Saiya-jins didn't come to earth, then Piccolo would have never died in the first place protecting Gohan...thus totally canceling that little exapade Bulma, Krillin, and Gohan had to the planet Namek to collect the Namekian dragonballs. And also inadvertantly canceling Krillin's death..meaning that Goku wouldn't have become a Super Saiya-jin. We also can't forget that Goku would have never gotten that special training from King Kai, since there would be no need since the Saiya-jin never arrived. After Raditz's death, Goku would have been wished back and most likely would have continued his little power struggle with Piccolo.

Ok. So we've got that part down. But now you may be wondering, What about Frieza? Wouldn't he have still been at large in the universe? Well ofcourse! Frieza's not going anywhere. It's enevitable that he would have eventually noticed the planet earth, Although I highly doubt that he would have went to the planet himself. Most likely he would have sent Zarbon, Dadoria, or even Vegeta to clear it for him...(Giving Gero the chance to collect their DNA) and since Goku never got that special training at King Kai's, and Piccolo never fused with Nail on Namek, you can most definately bet your bottom dollar what the outcome of this battle would be. Piccolo would be killed, (Even if he does happen to fuse with Kami) thus rendering the dragonballs USELESS. Goku would die, refusing to join them even if they HAD offered. Depending on who was sent to earth, Gohan would either be killed or taken back with them to Frieza. (Remember, he never recieved Piccolo's special training) And we won't even bother to mention Tien, Yamucha, Krillin, and.........Choutzu. Who by the way, would be the first to die.

At this point you might be asking, But how?! Goku always has a way of snatching victory from the hands of defeat. Well, not this time. Our Goku, (the one we watch now on DBZ) had gotten considerby stronger because of his previous challenges. At Raditz's arrival, Goku was in awe at his brother's strength..he'd never even fathomed that that sort of power could even exist. True, it's likely that he would have trained after this event to become stronger...but without his battle with Vegeta, (during the Saiya-jin saga) the gravity room, (which he trained in on the way to Namek), and King Kai's training, it's very unlikely that he would have improved all that much.

Okay. Seeing as how the Earth is putting up resistance, (in the forms of the Z-senshi) it would probably be purged of all it's people..meaning that Dr. Gero and his lab would most likely be destroyed. Even if it WASN'T destroyed and by some stroke of luck Gero DID manage to find some way to survive, it would do him no good to continue working on the Cell project since the object of his intense hatred (Goku) would already be dead. Ofcourse, some may argue that Gero probably would NOW want revenge on Frieza for killing Goku, when HE wanted to do the honor...but that's to say if Gero even survived, which would probably be very unlikely.

So there you have it. A world where Cell never exsisted. It doesn't look very pretty does it? Infact, it's down-right UGLY. Plus, without Vegeta there, Goku wouldn't have gotten as strong as he is. ^^
